Motorcycle hits bus, 10 killed
A bus carrying about 40 passengers lost control and hit a motorcycle in Andhra Pradesh, India. At least 10 people on the bus were killed. At the same time, the entire bus was burnt to ashes.
The accident took place on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh on Friday (October 24) morning. Indian media NDTV reported this information in a report. Police said that a private Volvo bus of ‘Kaveri Travels’ hit the motorcycle and immediately caught fire. Within a few minutes, the entire bus was burnt to ashes.
Kurnool Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patel told NDTV, ‘It was an AC bus. As a result, the passengers could not open the doors after the fire broke out. Only those who were able to break the window glass survived.’
He said, ‘There were a total of 40 passengers in the bus, including the two drivers. At least 10 bodies have been recovered and 15 others have been admitted to a local hospital in critical condition. However, the fire has been brought under control. Firefighters are conducting rescue and firefighting operations at the scene. The exact number of dead is yet to be confirmed. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep grief over the incident and expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased. He ordered prompt treatment of the injured.
