Mother-in-law murdered by daughter-in-law in Brahmanbaria
Parul Begum (60) was beaten to death with a hammer by her daughter-in-law over a family dispute in Bancharampur, Brahmanbaria.
The incident took place on Sunday (October 19) evening in Asadnagar Madhyapara village of the upazila.
The deceased Parul Begum is the wife of Abdul Wahid of the area. Police have arrested daughter-in-law Lily Akhter (30) in this incident.
Bancharampur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hasan Jamil Khan told us that Parul Akhter and Abdul Wahid Mia’s only son Billal lives abroad. Apart from the two of them, daughter-in-law Lily Akhter also lives at home. Lily has three children. She had a family dispute with her mother-in-law. There were frequent quarrels.
He said that last Sunday, Abdul Wahid Mia went to Comilla for treatment. In the evening, Lily had a quarrel with her mother-in-law. At one point, he hit his mother-in-law on the head with a hammer in the house and hit her indiscriminately on the head and face, causing her to bleed. Parul Begum died on the spot.
He also said that after the murder, the locals saw the body lying in the yard of the house and could not understand how the incident happened. Upon receiving the information, the police went to the spot and immediately started an investigation. When Lily became suspicious after seeing the situation around the house, she confessed to the murder during interrogation. Legal action is being taken against her in this incident.
This Monday morning, the body of the deceased was sent to the District Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
