More than 200 MPs urge UK government to recognise Palestine
A total of 220 UK lawmakers have written to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to recognise Palestine as a state. More than half of these members from nine political parties are Labour Party MPs. The letter also states that this will have a significant impact on a large scale. The letter says that although the UK does not have the authority to bring about a free and independent Palestinian state, it will have a significant impact if the UK recognises Palestine as a state; therefore, we urge you to take this step. The letter is putting pressure on the British Prime Minister after France announced that it will recognise Palestine as a state in the next few months. After an emergency phone call with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Starmer said that even if Palestine is recognised as a state, it will be part of a larger plan. So that the two-state solution is ensured.
