Mistakes made, can happen again: Nobel
Singer Mainul Ahsan Nobel has been granted bail a day after his arrest in a case filed on charges of embezzling about 1.3 million taka from a young woman in the name of marriage. On Tuesday (February 24), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Raju Ahmed granted his bail on the condition of compromise.
After getting bail, Nobel said, “My viewers and listeners understand me. I am a little crazy. People make mistakes. I also made mistakes. It can happen again. I hope everyone will forgive me.” Earlier, on February 2, the same court issued an arrest warrant against Nobel and five others. Later, on Monday (February 23), the police arrested him from the Battala area of Siddhirganj police station in Narayanganj.
According to the charges in the case, Nobel had developed a love affair with a woman named Anania Shabnam Rose. Later, from August 25, 2023 to June 2025, he allegedly embezzled Tk 1,318,540 from her by promising her marriage. There are also allegations of trying to capture the young woman and take objectionable photos. The case states that other accused helped Nobel in this fraud.
When the victim filed a case in court on August 13 last year, the court accepted it and ordered the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate. After the investigation, PBI Sub-Inspector Nuruzzaman submitted a report on January 7 this year stating that the allegations were true.
Apart from Nobel, his mother Nazma Hossain, wife Israt Jahan Priya, assistant Munem Shah Soumik and acquaintance Masud Rana have been named as accused in this case.
