Miscreants set fire to train at Mymensingh Railway Station
Miscreants set fire to a train compartment standing in the wash pit of Mymensingh Railway Station for the purpose of sabotage. The incident of setting fire to the railway station occurred at around 4 am today, Wednesday (November 19). Meanwhile, members of the railway security force were able to quickly bring the fire under control before it spread. After the incident, the miscreants chased them and fled the station area in the darkness.
It is learned that upon sensing the fire, the security personnel on duty soaked their jackets in the water accumulated under the wash pit and used them to extinguish the fire. The security personnel on duty at that time were Havildar Masud Rana, Sepoy Asaduzzaman and Naik Ismail. Due to their brave role and quick wit, it was possible to avoid extensive damage.
If the fire was not brought under control today, the situation was likely to worsen if the fire spread to the neighboring coaches, train engines and other parts of the station platform. After extinguishing the fire, it was seen that some parts of some seats of a coach were burnt and a gunpowder-like mixture had been spread on some other seats. A liquid like petrol had been poured, as if the fire had spread quickly.
Station Superintendent Abdullah Al Harun said that this attempt failed due to the immediate and courageous role of the RNB, i.e. the Railway Security Force. Currently, train movement and the overall situation at Mymensingh Junction Railway Station are normal.
Regarding the fire, Sirajul Islam, Inspector of the Mymensingh Office of the Railway Security Force, told us that the coaches of the Zaria local train were standing in a washpit outside the station platform to clean them. It is very dark there at night. Taking this opportunity, a group of miscreants set the train on fire with gunpowder and petrol in the early hours of the morning for sabotage.
He said that after the fire broke out, three members of the RNB tried to quickly put out the fire and chased a miscreant standing nearby. However, it was not possible to catch him due to darkness. Later, the RNB members took off their jackets, soaked them in water, covered the fire and quickly doused it with water. As a result, the railway personnel were saved from major damage. He said that security at Mymensingh Railway Station has been further strengthened since the incident.
