Miscreants set fire to gate of NCP leader’s house
It has been alleged that the gate of the house of Jatiya Nagarik Party (NCP) central organizer (north zone) Pritam Sohag in Netrakona was set on fire. The incident took place at 12 am on Sunday (November 9) in the Gajinpur area of Sadar upazila. Pritam Sohag claimed that the miscreants did this incident to create panic due to political disputes.
Pritam Sohag said, “Someone or the other set fire to the gate of the house around 12 am yesterday. My wife’s sandals and slippers were burnt. Also, the electricity meter above was damaged. However, there was no major damage, the fire has been extinguished. This Monday morning, the people of the neighboring house called me from their sleep and informed me about the matter.
He said, “Last night, I came home from the district town with my wife at 10 pm and closed the gate and went to sleep.” This morning, people called me from their sleep and said that a fire had been started. It is believed that petrol was poured on it and set it on fire.” A gas match was found. My cousin Enamul Haque has a grocery shop on the road a little away from my house. At around 12:30 am, he saw three people on a motorcycle leaving my house. It is believed that the miscreants set fire to it and left immediately.
Pritam Sohag said, I think my political opponents did this arson. Those who are not politically compatible with me. However, I am not afraid of it. Because during the anti-discrimination movement, I was in charge of the central coordinator number 11. Moreover, I led the Sir A.F. Rahman Hall of Dhaka University. So I am not afraid like this. However, I demand that those who did this heinous act be brought to justice. I have informed the police station and law enforcement agencies about the matter.
Pritam Sohag made a video of the burnt part and posted it on his ID on the social media Facebook at 7 am today. The video immediately went viral. In this regard, Netrokona Model Police Station OC Kazi Shahnewaz said, “I have heard about the NCP leader’s house being set on fire. Police have been sent to the scene. Legal action will be taken after investigating the incident.”
