Miscreants set fire to BNP leader’s house, one child dies
In Lakshmipur, miscreants poured petrol around the house of a businessman named Belal Hossain and a BNP leader after closing the door. A child named Ayesha Akhter (7) who was sleeping in the house died. In addition, businessman Belal and his two daughters Bithi Akhter and Smriti Akhter were also burnt. The incident took place in the Sutargopta area of Charmansa village of Bhabaniganj union in Sadar upazila late on Friday (December 19). The house was burnt to ashes before the fire was brought under control. The burnt Bithi and Smriti have been sent to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College. BNP leader Belal is undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital. The victim Belal is the co-organizing secretary of Bhabaniganj union BNP and a fertilizer and pesticide trader in Sutargopta Bazar. His house is on the west side of the market.
Family and locals said that Belal was sleeping with his wife and children at night. At that time, the miscreants closed the door of the house from outside and poured petrol and set it on fire. In an instant, the fire spread everywhere. At that time, the sleeping child Ayesha was burnt to death. Belal Hossain and his two other daughters were burnt. Later, the locals rescued the three of them and admitted them to Sadar Hospital. As their condition deteriorated, Bithi and Smriti were sent to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College for better treatment. Their condition is critical. Most of their bodies were burnt.
Laxmipur Fire Service Station Officer Ranjit Kumar Das said that after receiving the information, they went to the spot and brought the fire under control. At that time, one child died and three were rescued in burnt condition. The condition of two of them is critical. The fire is being investigated. Laxmipur Sadar Model Police Station OC Md. Wahid Parvez said that after receiving the information, the police visited the spot. One child died in the fire. Three others were burnt. The fire is being investigated.
