Miscreants set fire to Akhaura-Brahmanbaria railway line late at night
Miscreants set fire to the Akhaura-Brahmanbaria railway line of the Eastern Railway. However, train traffic is normal. The incident occurred at 1:45 am yesterday, Wednesday (November 12) in the Dubla area of Bhatshala railway station on the Akhaura railway line.
The Chittagong-bound Turna Nishitha intercity train departing from Dhaka and the Chittagong-bound Bijoy Express intercity train departing from Mymensingh were stuck at the Brahmanbaria railway station for some time.
Akhaura Railway Police Station OC SM Shafiqul Islam said that miscreants poured plastic pipes, wood and petrol on the railway line and set it on fire. On receiving information, the miscreants reached the spot and fled. The police were able to put out the fire. Akhaura Railway Junction Station Superintendent Md. Noor Nabi said that train traffic on this route is normal, despite some disruption due to a fire on the railway line at night.
