Mirza Fakhrul is on his way to London.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has left Dhaka for the UK on a 10-day visit. He and his wife left Dhaka on Bangladesh Biman flight BG 201 at 8:20 am today, Saturday.
Earlier, the BNP Secretary General arrived at the airport at 7:17 am. After staying in London for 10 days, he is scheduled to return to the country on December 11.
BNP Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed the matter. He said that during the visit, Mirza Fakhrul will meet with the party’s acting chairman Tarique Rahman in addition to various party programs. The two top BNP leaders will discuss several important issues including the current situation in the country, the progress of reforms in the interim government, and the upcoming elections.
Several other BNP sources said that after Mirza Fakhrul returns to the country, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will go to London for treatment. Preparations are also being made on behalf of the party for this.
It is learned that former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia will first undergo treatment in the UK. After that, she may also go to the United States for treatment. Khaleda Zia will go to the UK for treatment after this visit of the Secretary General.
Meanwhile, Mirza Fakhrul last visited London twice before the 11th National Parliament elections in 2018. After that, this is the first time that he is going directly to London after the fall of Sheikh Hasina and the political change on August 5.
