Meta’s Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp services have returned to normal.

After being down for three-and-a-half hours, Meta’s Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp services are back. Starting at midnight Wednesday, Meta’s popular services began going down around the world. Users encountered this technical error little by little.

WhatsApp started operating around 3:30 am today, Thursday, after a long three-and-a-half-hour outage in Bangladesh. Facebook, Instagram and Messenger started operating gradually. Meanwhile, though Meta authorities did not immediately comment on the issue, messages were later sent on X and other platforms expressing their regret.

The official Meta X page said, “We are aware that a technical issue is affecting the ability of some people to access our services. We are working to normalize things as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience.”

Outage-tracking website Downdetector.com says that Meta users worldwide encountered a major technical error. More than 10,000 users initially had difficulty accessing Facebook. That number jumped to over 100,000 in just 1 hour.

In addition, more than 7,500 people initially had problems using Instagram. Later, it increased to more than 64,000. More than 12,000 people had problems using WhatsApp. In addition, more than 14,000 users are unable to use Messenger.

A message, when accessing Facebook at the beginning of the problem, said that we are working to fix it as soon as possible. Due to technical reasons, various services of Meta, owned by Mark Zuckerberg, were disrupted in March and April this year. The social media sites – Facebook, Instagram, and Threads – were down for a few hours.
