Messi banned for one match
Inter Miami and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi have been banned for one match for not participating in the MLS All-Star game. Messi’s Miami teammate Jordi Alba has also faced the same punishment. As a result, the Florida club will not have these two experienced players in the Major League Soccer (MLS) match against Cincinnati on Sunday morning (July 27). Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba were originally in the MLS All-Star friendly match against Mexico’s Liga MX XI. But neither of the two Miami footballers took part in the match. The MLS authorities have announced the punishment against the two footballers for not participating in the match despite being injured. According to league rules, if an uninjured player withdraws from the All-Star game, he is banned for one match. It is worth noting that Leo Messi has scored a joint-high 18 goals in 17 matches played in this MLS season so far. He has also made 10 assists.
