Membership of 11 BCB directors including Papon has been revoked
After the fall of the Awami government in the students’ movement, there have been massive changes in every aspect of the country. It has also affected the sports arena. Farooq Ahmed has become the new president of Bangladesh Cricket Board. A few BCB meetings were also held under his leadership.
However, many directors of the board were absent in these meetings. Whereas according to the BCB constitution, if a director is absent from three consecutive meetings without notice, his directorship becomes vacant. After the fifth meeting of the board yesterday, a press release announced the cancellation of the membership of 11 directors. Among them is the last president Nazmul Hasan.
Apart from this, the resignation of three directors has been accepted. Apart from this, 15 director posts have become vacant due to the death of Alamgir Hossain.
Others among the directors whose membership was revoked were Ismail Haider, Obed Nizam, Tanveer Ahmed, AJM Nashir Uddin, Gazi Golam Mortza, Sheikh Sohail, Najeeb Ahmed, Manzoor Quader, Advocate Anwarul Islam and Shafiul Alam Chowdhury. The resignations of Khaled Mahmud, Naimur Rahman and Enayet Hossain have been accepted.
Earlier, the National Sports Council had written to the BCB seeking to know the vacancy in the director’s post. The National Sports Council also sent a letter seeking to know who is in the BCB executive committee. After that, after the BCB board meeting, the names of the directors whose membership was officially canceled were revealed. BCB president Farooq Ahmed said that the executive committee will be decided within the next week.
Meanwhile, the cricket board has decided to form a constitution amendment committee headed by BCB director Nazmul Abedin. In the board meeting, it was decided to build modern gyms in three test venues of the country – Mirpur, Chittagong and Sylhet.
BCB has also published the new schedule of BPL. BPL 11th season will be played on December 30, final on February 7.
