Master plan being considered for St. Martin: Environment Advisor

Stating that the natural environment of St. Martin has started to recover, Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Water Resources Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that a master plan is being considered for the island. For this, initiatives are underway to take a project from the Climate Trust.

She said these things at a press conference on Monday (June 23) on the occasion of World Environment Day and Environment Fair.

The Environment Advisor said that the natural environment of St. Martin has started to recover. Consideration is being given to whether a master plan can be made for the island. Initiatives are underway to take a project from the Climate Trust for this.

Syeda Rizwana Hasan said that there should be no fear about St. Martin’s Island. It needs to be saved. All fears will be removed only if the island can be saved.

Stating that various effective steps are being taken and implemented to control air pollution, noise pollution, and river pollution, she said that the country’s shopping centers have become 100% polythene bag-free. However, raw markets have a challenge of their own habits. The Ministry of Jute and Textiles has taken responsibility for polythene shopping bags. They will produce jute bags. Buyers will also get jute bags at affordable prices.

He also said that 17 products have been listed as single-use plastics. Out of these, cotton butt and straw, these two single-use products have been banned. A campaign against these products will be launched soon.
