Massive fire breaks out at garment factory in CEPZ
A massive fire broke out at a garment factory in the Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ). The nine-storey building is said to have employed more than 500 workers.
The fire broke out at around 2pm today (October 16). Four units of the fire service are working to control the fire. The Bangladesh Navy is also assisting them.
It was not immediately clear from specific sources how many workers were in the factory and whether anyone was trapped.
Various sources estimate that more than 500 workers worked in the nine-storey building. The factory manufactured equipment used in hospitals.
