Mason arrested in Rangpur while trying to make a card posing as ASP for his girlfriend

Although a mason by profession, Mostafizur Rahman introduced himself to his girlfriend as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). But while trying to maintain that identity, he ran into trouble. He was caught red-handed by the police while trying to make a fake identity card in Rangpur. Kotwali police arrested him from the city’s Press Club Shopping Mall on Tuesday (April 7) afternoon. Mostafizur is the son of Mokhlesur Rahman of Nawabganj upazila in Dinajpur.
Police and witnesses said that in the afternoon, Mostafizur went to a shop on the third floor of the Press Club Shopping Mall and introduced himself as an ASP. Later, he ordered a police identity card to be made. However, after receiving the card, the locals became suspicious of his words and they detained him and informed the police. On receiving the information, the Kotwali police reached the spot and took him into custody. During initial interrogation, Mostafizur said that he had developed a love affair with a young ASP. Recently, when his girlfriend wanted to see his identity card, he came to Rangpur to get it made. He had been staying at the city’s Moon Hotel since Monday. Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azad Rahman said that the family of the detained youth had informed that he had been missing for the past 6 months. At the same time, the family claimed that he was mentally ill. However, he said that legal action is being taken against him on charges of fraud, subject to investigation.
