Manna announces withdrawal from Dhaka-18 constituency
Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna has withdrawn from the Dhaka-18 constituency election due to inability to meet expenses. He made the announcement on his verified Facebook page on Sunday (February 8) night. In his status, Manna wrote, “I am now in Bogra. In special circumstances, I have decided to contest from Dhaka-18 and Bogra-2 constituencies in the parliamentary elections. Dhaka-18 is a huge constituency. There are seven and a half police stations and about six and a half lakh voters.”
He also wrote, “The election is so expensive that it is not possible for me to conduct it. In this context, I have decided to withdraw myself from the Dhaka-18 constituency election. Many people may be hurt by my decision. I express my regret to them.”
Meanwhile, despite announcing his withdrawal from the Dhaka-18 constituency election, Manna will contest from Bogra-2 constituency. Earlier, the concerned Returning Officer had cancelled the nomination of Mahmudur Rahman Manna for this (Shibganj) seat. He appealed against this decision to the Election Commission. Later, he reinstated his candidacy.
