Major theft at a government primary school in Narsingdi, even the holiday bell was not spared

A major theft occurred at Bhagirathpur Government Primary School in Meherpara Union of Narsingdi Sadar Upazila. Late on Tuesday (April 7), a group of thieves broke the school’s balcony grill and stole various items, including educational materials.
The stolen items included a multimedia projector used for online teaching of children, speakers, laptops, LED monitors, 4 ceiling fans, a table fan, a CCTV camera and a brass bell used for holidays. They also destroyed important school documents. The school authorities estimate that the school suffered a loss of about 5 lakh taka.
The school’s headmistress, Sabikunnahar, said that Bhagirathpur Government Primary School has 182 students and the institution has been teaching students with a good reputation for a long time. Various electronic devices, including laptops and projectors, were used for teaching in this government institution. There were also ceiling fans and table fans in the classrooms and the principal’s room.
He further said that when he came to the school on Wednesday at the scheduled time, he found that the theft had taken place sometime last night. Since the school is located next to the highway, CCTV cameras were also installed and the thieves took away the CCTV cameras installed in the school along with the theft. A written complaint has been filed with the concerned police station in this regard.
