Main accused in the murder of a college student in Sirajganj arrested

The main accused in the case of the murder of a college student named Abdur Rahman Riyad (17) in public at a crossroads in Sirajganj city, Md. Sakin, has been arrested by RAB-12 members. He was arrested from Savar area of ​​Dhaka district on Wednesday (January 7). RAB-12 Sirajganj Sadar Company Operation Officer Assistant Superintendent of Police Md. Usman Gani confirmed this information in a press release on Thursday (January 8). It is learned that the arrested Sakin is the son of Moti of Dhanbandhi Mahalla of Sirajganj Municipality.
In the press release, the Assistant Superintendent of Police mentioned that yesterday afternoon, a smart team of RAB Sadar Company conducted a raid on Alpha Zone and Company, a private organization located in Kaliakair area of ​​Birulia Union of Savar Police Station in Dhaka and arrested Sakin. He was handed over to the police station this morning.
Incidentally, on the afternoon of December 28, miscreants hacked college student Abdur Rahman Riyad to death with a country-made weapon at Bahirgola Road intersection in Sirajganj city in broad daylight. He died at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College Hospital while undergoing treatment at night. The deceased Riyad is the son of Rezaul Karim of Sayadhangara Khan Para Mohalla in the city and is a class 11 student of Islamia Government College. He was also a member of the Sirajganj district branch of the Anti-Discrimination Movement.
A CCTV footage of the murder went viral. In it, Abdur Rahman Riyad is seen sitting in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. At that time, several youths armed with country-made weapons from different directions attacked Riyad inside the auto-rickshaw and fled. In this incident, the deceased Riyad’s father Rezaul Karim filed a case with the police station, where Sakin was mentioned as the main accused, 11 people and 20/25 people were mentioned as unknown.
In the case details, Rezaul Karim mentioned that on the afternoon of December 28, his son Abdur Rahman Riyad and the first accused Md. Sakin, known and unknown, went to a coaching center with 36 known and unknown people near a ten-story building in the Chowrasta More area. At around 4:30 pm, Riyad and his three friends were sitting in a CNG-powered autorickshaw on Bahirgola Road in the Chowrasta More. At that time, the accused systematically surrounded Riyad with country-made weapons and abused him in obscene language. At one point, the main accused Sakin stabbed Riyad with a Chinese tip knife he had. The other accused also stabbed Riyad with various weapons, including a Chinese axe, and fled. Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Shahidul Islam said, “The arrested resident has been sent to jail through the court. A remand application will be filed if necessary during the investigation of the case.” He said, “Two other accused have been arrested earlier in this murder case.”
