Main accused arrested in Narayanganj for slitting woman’s throat
The RAB has arrested Nirob alias Nazim, the mastermind and main accused in the case of the slitting of the throat of a housewife named Sabina Akhter Lucky (35) in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. He was arrested from Timirkathi area of Nalchiti police station in Jhalokati district on Saturday (August 16) night. Squad Commander of RAB-11 Battalion Headquarters in Adamjinagar, Siddhirganj, Md. Shamsur Rahman confirmed this information to the media in a press release on Sunday (August 17) afternoon. The arrested Nirob alias Nazim (42) is the son of Chandu Khan of Khanbari (Ramkeshar) area of Borhanuddin police station in Bhola district. Earlier, on the morning of August 13 (Wednesday), Siddhirganj Police recovered the slit-throated body of housewife Sabina Akhter Lucky from a rented tin shed house next to the Roads and Highways Department (SOHD) Colony in Shimrail area of Siddhirganj. Sharp weapon injury marks were found on the deceased’s neck, cheek and back of the neck. Later, the body was sent to the Sadar General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The deceased Sabina Akhter Lucky is the daughter of the deceased Shamsul Haque of the Gopibag area of Wari police station in the capital and the wife of Md. Rubel, son of the deceased Abdul Hai of RK Mission Road in the same area. Locals said that the accused Nirob alias Nazim has been living in a rented tin shed house next to the Roads and Highways Department (SOHD) Staff Colony in Shimrail area of Siddhirganj for the past three years. The deceased Sabina Akhter Lucky has been visiting Nirob’s house at various times for the past six months, posing as Rubel’s wife. Sabina Akhter Lucky was seen at Rubel’s house the night before the body was recovered. Locals suspect that they may be having an extramarital affair. According to the case details, Rubel, a resident of Gopibag RK Mission Road under Wari Police Station in the capital, married Sabina Akhter Lucky of the same area 18-19 years ago according to Islamic Sharia law. They have a son and three daughters in their married life. Rubel works at a grill workshop. On the morning of August 8, Sabina Akhter Lucky left the house without informing her husband Rubel as before. Five days after the incident, on the morning of August 13, Rubel received news that Lucky’s throat was slit from a tin shed house next to the Roads and Highways Department (SOWJ) colony in Shimrail area of Siddhirganj, Narayanganj. Later, Sabina Akhter Lucky’s husband Md. Rubel filed a murder case with Siddhirganj Police Station, accusing Nirob alias Nazim and 2-3 other unidentified people. In the case, the plaintiff Rubel alleged that the accused Nirob alias Nazim lured his wife Sabina Akhter Lucky to her rented house and slaughtered her in a planned manner. In a press release, RAB said that when the news of this brutal murder was broadcast in various media outlets, the matter became a hot topic. In order to arrest the accused involved in the murder, the RAB-11 battalion, along with the police station, started collecting information at various levels, including intelligence surveillance. In continuation of this, the RAB-11 operational team was able to identify the location of the main accused involved in the murder, Nirob alias Nazim, based on its own intelligence surveillance and specific information. Later, on Saturday night, after conducting a raid in Jhalokati district, Nirob was arrested and during interrogation, he confessed to killing Sabina Akhter Lucky. The arrested accused Nirav alias Nazim was handed over to Siddhirganj Police Station on Sunday (August 17) afternoon for further legal action in the case, and the operation to arrest the other accused is underway, RAB said.
