Mahin Sarkar expelled from NCP for breach of discipline

The National Citizen Party (NCP) has announced that Mahin Sarkar has been expelled for not taking the party’s permission before collecting nomination papers to contest the upcoming Dhaka University Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections. This information was given in a message sent by NCP Joint Member Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat on Monday (August 18) night. The message said that Mahin Sarkar did not take permission from the party’s convener and member secretary before accepting the nomination in the DUCSU elections. This has been considered a serious violation of party discipline. Earlier, the NCP announced the expulsion of Mahin through a press release on Monday night without giving any reason. The notification said that due to serious breach of party discipline, Mahin Sarkar, the central joint member secretary of the National Citizens Party (NCP), has been expelled from his post and responsibilities on the orders of NCP convener Md. Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain until further orders. It also said that this expulsion order will be effective from today, Monday and will remain in force until further orders. It is worth noting that NCP Mahin Sarkar has been nominated for the post of general secretary (GS) from an independent panel in the DUCSU elections. On Monday afternoon, Mahin Sarkar announced that he will be a candidate for the GS post of the DUCSU central parliament from an independent panel called ‘DU First’.
