The world’s longest cricketer’s retirement.
Retirements seem to be coming thick and fast for Pakistan cricket. In the last couple of days, Pakistani star fast bowler Mohammad Amir and the country’s spin all-rounder Imad Wasim announced their retirements from international cricket for the second time.
This time, Mohammad Irfan-who was known as the tallest player in the history of international cricket-joined this retirement procession. However, the incident of three cricketers saying goodbye to the national team in just 48 hours has become a hot topic in Pakistan cricket.
Irfan’s height in international cricket attracts attention. This bowler, 7 feet 1 inch tall, is the tallest player in the history of international cricket. He is also known as the ‘Tower of Cricket’ for this reason.
Left-arm pacer Irfan announced his retirement last night on social media X. He wrote, ‘I have decided to retire from international cricket. I express my deep gratitude to my teammates and coaches. Thank you all for the love you have shown me, encouraged me and created unforgettable memories. I will continue to support and celebrate the game that gave me everything.’
Irfan last represented Pakistan 5 years ago. He had played a T20 against Australia in 2019.
Irfan has represented Pakistan in 86 games across three formats. He has 109 wickets. He made his international debut in an ODI against England in 2010.
