    List of 71 expelled students from Begum Rokeya University published

    71 students involved in the attack, vandalism and murder of martyr Abu Sayeed student of Begum Rokeya University in Rangpur during the anti-discrimination student movement have been expelled for various terms. The decision was taken at the 109th syndicate meeting of the university. Legal action has been taken against 15 people, 33 people have been expelled for two semesters, and 23 people have been expelled for one semester.

    On Monday, a list of 72 people, including 71, was released through a notification signed by the university’s Vice-Chancellor and Disciplinary Board President Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali.

    The university disciplinary board waived the charges against a student named Raihan Mia of the Department of Political Science after the complainants withdrew the charges.

    The 15 names that the university administration has published for legal action are Pamel Barua, Shamim Mahfuz, Dhananjay Kumar Tagor, Glorious (Fazle Rabbi), Babul, Bidhan, Tanvir, Adullah Al Noman Khan, Rifat, Farhad Hossain Elite, Mominul, Arifuzzaman Emon, Gaziur, Shahid Hasan, Mamun.

    The 33 people that the university administration has expelled for two semesters are Sezan Ahmed (alias Arif), Md. Arafat Rahman Abir, Abu Saleh Nahid, Imran Chowdhury Akash, Kofi Anan Mannan, Masudul Hasan, Ujjwal Mia, Habibur Rahman, Sakhawat Hossain, Shoaibul (Sallu), Abdullah Al Raihan, Bayezid Mostafi, Russell, Siam Al Nahid, Amit, Akhtar Hossain, Tanzil, Munna Hasan Leon, Jihan Ali, Md. Sabbir Hossain (Rian), Ghalib Hasan, Mahmudur Rahman Hridoy, Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Pipas Ali, Mozammel Haque, Mrityunjoy Roy, Md. Sajjad Hossain, Manik Chandra Sen, Rabindra Roy, Siam Arafat, Md. Sabbir Ahmed, Md. Musanna-bin-Ahmed, Shahin Islam.

    The 23 people who were expelled for one semester by the university administration are Md. Hasanuzzaman Soumik, Sudipto Sarkar Badhon, Zubayer Mahmud, Komal Debnath, Md. Rizon Mondal, Md. Abdullah Al Mahmud, Philip Roy, Jihad Ullah, SM Labu Islam, Jayanta Chandra Roy, Sabuj Kumar, Sabuj Mahast, Md. Mehedi Hasan Miraj, Jamal Mia, Toufiq Kibria, Mejbahul Sarkar Joy, Debashish Kumar Roy, Atef Ashab Dil Mondal, Nafiul Islam, Tapan Chowdhury, Sajedur Rahman, Amirul Islam Shuvo, Shafiul Azam (Samrat).

    Vice-Chancellor Professor Shawkat Ali said that the information search committee had given a list of 72 students. The University Disciplinary Board has decided to suspend 23 students for one semester, 33 students for two semesters and take legal action against 15 former students and Chhatra League leaders and activists. It has been decided to expel the remaining 15 former students and Chhatra League activists of the university and take legal action against them.
