Principal Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has invited Elon Musk, the top US businessman and CEO of SpaceX, to visit Bangladesh and proposed the launch of Starlink satellite services in the country. The Principal Advisor extended the invitation in a letter sent to Musk on February 19.
In the letter, Dr. Yunus mentioned that Elon Musk’s visit to Bangladesh will provide an opportunity to meet the youth of the country, who will be one of the main beneficiaries of this pioneering technology.
In the letter, the Principal Advisor said, “Let us work together to build a better future.” The letter further said, “If Starlink is connected to Bangladesh’s infrastructure, it will bring revolutionary changes, especially for the country’s energetic youth, rural and disadvantaged women, and remote and backward communities.”
The Principal Advisor, through his high-level representative Dr. Khalilur Rahman has been instructed to coordinate closely with the SpaceX team and complete the necessary activities so that the groundwork for the launch of Starlink in Bangladesh can be prepared within the next 90 working days.
It is worth noting that Professor Yunus had a long phone conversation with Elon Musk on February 13. During this time, the possibilities of future cooperation and the progress of the launch of Starlink satellite internet service in Bangladesh were discussed.
