Legal notice seeking ban on 14 parties including Awami League-JPA
At least 36 parties and organizations supporting the mass uprising, July Unity, have given legal notices to the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and the Law Ministry demanding a ban on 14 parties including Awami League and Jatiya Party. This information was given in a notice sent by Israfil Farazi, one of the organizers of July Unity, on Tuesday (December 16). The notice was given on behalf of July Unity by Abdullah Al Mahmud (Borhan Mahmud).
The notice states that since the formation of the Awami League-led government in 2008, it has been gradually establishing a fascist regime in the country, which took its final form by coming to power without a vote in 2014. This fascist regime that lasted for more than a decade and a half ended on August 5, 2024 (July 36). Several other parties, including the Jatiya Party, have worked as allies of Awami League in this long misrule. Which they called the 14-party alliance.
It also said that in July-August last year, in the face of intense mass movements by students and the public, the fascist government’s Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the top leaders of her party Awami League fled to various countries including India. But they are again carrying out various conspiracies and malicious activities to destabilize the changed Bangladesh. As part of this, they recently tried to shoot and kill Sharif Osman Hadi, the convener of the Inquilab Manch, the front-line fighter of July and the independent candidate for Dhaka-8 constituency. Since August 5, there have been demands to ban the Awami League, the Jatiya Party and other parties in the 14-party alliance. However, this demand has become stronger after the attempt to kill Osman Hadi.
