Leftist or rightist, no one has the right to slut-sham a woman – Hasnat’s post
No matter what a woman’s political stance is; be it BNP, NCP, leftist, rightist or without a party, no one has the right to insult her body, relationship, dress or personal life. Hasnat Abdullah, the chief organizer of the National Citizens Party (NCP) for the southern region, has commented. She said these words in a post on her verified ID on social media Facebook at 4 pm today, Monday (August 25). Hasnat said – this is not politics, this is the dirtiest expression of patriarchal hatred. The scary thing is that this practice of hatred often comes from people wearing the mask of progressivism; who on the one hand talk about women’s rights, on the other hand attack a woman’s character whenever she goes beyond their political views. Rumeen Farhana, Tasneem Zara, Samantha Sharmin, Umama Fatima, Tajnuva Zabin or Mansura Alam – none of them are outside this disgusting tradition. The NCP leader further said, “This hypocrisy of downplaying slut-shaming if you are in favor of a party or opinion and encouraging it if you are against it not only makes our politics ugly but also normalizes misogyny.” Taking to Facebook, she wrote that taking a stand against this hatred is not a ‘normal reaction’, it is an urgent political fight. Regardless of party, opinion or identity, this fight must continue. Hasnat further wrote that although I myself am a victim of class hatred, I express my clear stand against slut-shaming of any woman, including Rumeen Farhana.
