Lecturer beaten up by collar at government college

Mostafa Kamal, associate professor and head of the economics department at Rajbari Government College, has alleged that AKM Azadur Rahman, a lecturer in the accounting department, was dragged by his collar and beaten up. A 10-second video of the incident has gone viral.
The incident took place between two teachers on the ground floor of the academic building of Rajbari Government College at around 4 pm on Wednesday (October 15).
AKM Azadur Rahman, a lecturer in the accounting department of Rajbari Government College, said, “During the afternoon exam duty, a teacher of the Islamic History department pushed Qutub Uddin, a lecturer in the management department. Later, Qutub Uddin decided to file a written complaint with the principal. When he was going to write and print the complaint on the computer, Mustafa Kamal, the head of the department and general secretary of the college’s teachers’ council, associate professor, came and pulled him (Azadur) by the collar and punched him. This injured his neck, eyes and face. He has been treated at the Sadar Hospital.
He said that he will investigate the incident fairly and file a case.
Qutub Uddin, a lecturer in the management department of Rajbari Government College, said, “During the argument during the exam, Amir Sir of the Islamic History department pushed me. When I went to complain to the principal about the matter, Mustafa Kamal Sir came and grabbed Azadur by the collar and punched him. When I tried to stop him, Jahangir Alam Sir of the Bengali department also punched him. “Azadur had to be taken to the hospital. I demand justice for this incident.”
Accused teacher Mostafa Kamal denied the charges against him and said, “They threatened a teacher. As soon as I came to know about the matter, I went to them. “I grabbed Azadur by the collar because he misbehaved, but I did not beat him.”
When asked which teacher was threatened, he said, “He lives in Khulna and works here.”
Rajbari Government College Principal Professor AKM Ikramul Karim said, “I heard that there was a fight between two teachers. However, I do not know about the beating.”
