Leader on hunger strike to demand BNP nomination in Rajbari-2 constituency

A leader of Tarek Zia Parishad has started a hunger strike to demand the declaration of a paddy sheaf candidate for the Rajbari-2 (Pangsha-Baliakandi-Kalukhali) constituency. He started a hunger strike in front of Hazrat Shahjui (Rah.) Mazar Sharif of Pangsha Municipality from 2 pm yesterday, Monday (November 10). He has also announced to continue this hunger strike until the candidate is declared.
The convener of Rajbari District Tarek Zia Parishad and joint convener of the central committee, Riazul Islam, is on this hunger strike. He is the son of Ukil Pramanik of Dhenkipara village, Ward No. 1 of Pangsha Municipality in Rajbari district and is known locally as an active grassroots worker of BNP and its affiliate organizations.
Riazul Islam said, “The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) announced BNP’s nominations for 237 seats on November 3. But their nomination has not been announced yet for Rajbari-2 constituency. There is no candidate from the alliance in this constituency.” He also said, “Former district BNP general secretary Harun-or-Rashid has been working for the last 17 years. He was by the side of the leaders and activists. Former MP Nasirul Haque Sabu, despite being ill, is a worthy candidate. For this reason, I am drawing the attention of the nomination board to declare BNP’s candidate for the paddy sheaf.” Riazul Islam claimed that he will continue his hunger strike until the candidate for Rajbari-2 constituency is announced.
