Lazpharma fined for selling fake medicines in Tangail

A patient developed side effects after taking a medicine sold as if it were made in Germany. The Consumer Affairs Department investigated the complaint and found it to be true. Later, a raid was conducted in the Akurtakur Para area of ​​Tangail city and Lazpharma was fined Tk 2 lakh for selling fake medicines.
The raid was conducted on Sunday (November 30) afternoon under the leadership of Assistant Director of the District Consumer Affairs Department Asaduzzaman Romel. Officials from the Army, Police and the Medicines Department assisted in the raid.
The Consumer Affairs Department said that local resident Shafiqul Islam had complained about the sale of fake medicines last Thursday night. After receiving the complaint, a raid was conducted on Lazpharma the same night and several suspicious medicines were seized. Later, after investigation, when the medicines were found to be fake, the Consumer Affairs Department fined the company Tk 2 lakh as per the law.
Assistant Director Asaduzzaman Romel said, “Since it is directly related to public health, no exemption will be given in the case of counterfeit medicines. Immediately after receiving the complaint, a raid was conducted and the medicines were seized and fines were imposed as they were found to be counterfeit in lab tests.”
