Landmine blast kills 5 soldiers in Pakistan

Five soldiers were killed in a landmine blast during a clearance operation by security forces in Pakistan’s Balochistan province. Samaa TV reported that five ‘India-backed’ terrorists were also killed in the operation. The incident took place in Sherbandi area of ​​Kech district on Monday (September 15), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said. The ISPR said that the security forces were conducting a clearance operation to clear a terrorist hideout in Sherbandi area. At that time, a landmine exploded in an army vehicle, killing five soldiers. The martyred soldiers are – Captain Waqar Ahmed (Loralai), Naik Asmatullah (Dera Ghazi Khan), Lance Naik Junaid Ahmed (Sukkur), Lance Naik Khan Mohammad (Mardan), Sepoy Mohammad Zahoor (Swabi). The ISPR said that the sacrifices of Pakistan’s brave officers and soldiers have further strengthened the resolve to eradicate terrorism from the country. The statement added, “The security forces are committed to working shoulder to shoulder with the nation to eradicate pro-India terrorism.” At least 19 soldiers have been killed in various military operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last one week. Of these, seven soldiers were killed in a gunfight with ‘pro-India terrorists’ in the Lalkila Maidan area of ​​Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The security forces were conducting an operation there based on intelligence inputs.
