Landing failed in Dhaka, 8 flights went to Vietnam via Sylhet-Kolkata
Due to dense fog, 8 international flights could not land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today (January 4). As the runway was not visible in the fog, the flights were sent to alternative airports for safety reasons. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport Executive Director Group Captain SM Ragib Samad confirmed the matter.
Due to fog, 6 flights landed at Sylhet Airport, 1 at Kolkata Airport and 1 at Hanoi Airport in Vietnam. He also said that the diverted flights have started returning once the weather normalizes.
The Meteorological Department said in a forecast at 7 am today (January 4), light to moderate fog may persist in Dhaka and surrounding areas until noon. Although the sky is partially cloudy at this time, the temperature may increase slightly during the day. Also, the extended five-day weather forecast says that the temperature may increase slightly across the country in the coming days.
