Land dispute: BNP leader shot dead by cousin in Pabna
A union BNP leader named Biru Molla (50) was shot dead by his cousin in Ishwardi, Pabna, over a family and land dispute. The incident took place on Wednesday (December 17) morning in Kamalpur village of Laxmikunda union of Ishwardi upazila. The deceased Biru Molla is the son of Abul Molla of Kamalpur village and is the convener of Laxmikunda union BNP.
According to local and police sources, Biru Molla’s cousin Zahurul Molla had dug soil from their family’s disputed land on Tuesday. Biru Molla went to Zahurul Molla’s house this morning and discussed the matter with the people. When an argument broke out at one point during the argument, Zahurul Molla and his son fired blank bullets and asked them to leave. When they did not leave, they later opened fire on them again and Biru Molla died on the spot after being shot in the head. Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mominuzzaman said the body has been recovered and sent to the hospital. Police are conducting a drive to arrest the accused.
