Lalu is the main culprit among 4 arrested in Joy murder case
The law enforcement agencies have arrested Lalu, the main accused in the controversial Zahirul Islam Joy (26) murder case in Gazaria, Munshiganj. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gazaria Police Station Hasan Ali confirmed the matter through a press release on Thursday (December 18) morning.
The arrested are Lalu (45), son of the late Monir Hossain of Hoglakandi village of Imampur union of Gazaria upazila, and the accused in the case are Shakil (27), son of Alauddin of Chauddkahonia village of Baushia union, Alauddin (65), son of the late Mahmud Hossain of the same village, and Jasim (45). Hasan Ali said that RAB-3 and RAB-11 members arrested them in separate raids in different areas of Dhaka and its surroundings late on Wednesday (December 17). Later, the arrested were handed over to Gazaria Police Station.
According to police sources, Joy Sarkar was brutally hacked to death on the night of November 26 in Chauddkahania village of Baushia union in Gazaria upazila on charges of making a TikTok video. The four accused arrested in the murder case filed in this incident were absconding for a long time. RAB-3 arrested top terrorist Lalu from Hatirjheel area of the capital at midnight yesterday. On the other hand, RAB-11 arrested Shakil from Siddhirganj area of Narayanganj, Alauddin from Kachpur Balur Math area and Jasim from Fatulla police station area.
Gazaria police station OC Hasan Ali said, “Lalu is the top terrorist of Gazaria upazila. There are 4 murder cases against him, at least 23 cases of various crimes including weapons, drugs and fights. The arrest of these accused has brought relief to the common people of the area.” He said, “The arrested were sent to court this morning. Efforts are also underway to arrest the remaining accused quickly.” Meanwhile, Jannatul Ferdous, the plaintiff in the Joy Sarkar murder case and the sister of the deceased, expressed relief over the news of the arrest of top terrorist Lalu. She said, “I want Lalu to not get bail in any way and the maximum punishment, death penalty, should be ensured through the law.”
