Labor leader Bose murder: 5 sentenced to death, 4 to life imprisonment

The tribunal has sentenced five people to death in the murder case of former president of Gopalganj Motor Workers Union Saidur Rahman Bose. At the same time, four people have been sentenced to life imprisonment and 11 people have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Judge Md. Rahibul Islam of Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 gave this order today, Wednesday (January 28).
Prosecutor of the concerned tribunal Abdur Rashid Molla confirmed the matter. The death sentences are Bulbul Sheikh, Hedayet Sheikh, Tafsir Sheikh, Kibria Al Kazi and Jhantu Sheikh.
According to the case sources, former president of the District Motor Workers Union Saidur Rahman Bose was killed in 2016. Basu’s younger brother Jasu Sheikh filed a case with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station on February 19 of the same year.
On July 12, 2016, the investigating officer of the case and Sub-Inspector of Gopalganj Sadar Police Station Hazrat Ali filed a charge sheet against 23 people. On August 29, 2017, Gopalganj Sessions Judge Md. Dalil Uddin ordered the trial to begin by framing charges. Later, the case was sent to Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 on August 16, 2018 for trial and disposal. The trial of the accused has been completed in this tribunal.
