KUET VC’s resignation and 5 more demands, classes and exams to be cancelled if not met
The students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) have issued a five-point ultimatum, including the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director of Student Affairs, accepting responsibility for the failure and seeking an unconditional apology for the attack on students.
They announced that all academic activities, including class examinations, at KUET will be suspended if their demands are not met by 1 pm today, Wednesday.
Earlier, the students presented all these demands at a press briefing at KUET on Tuesday night.
In a written statement, the students said, “Chhatra Dal and local BNP leaders and activists have carried out a planned and brutal attack on students at KUET. The KUET administration should file a case of attempted murder and sabotage against the students and the teachers, officials and employees who were involved in this attack, and all those involved should be expelled and their student status should be cancelled.
In addition, an order should be issued stating that all students, teachers, officials and employees of the university cannot be directly or indirectly involved in any kind of politics inside or outside KUET.” Failure to do so will result in lifelong expulsion and studentship cancellation for the students.
A sufficient number of military personnel must be deployed outside the campus to provide security to KUET students until February 28, and the KUET administration must bear the medical expenses of all those injured in the attack.
