Khulna’s ‘Sheikh Bari’ demolished with bulldozer
Sheikh Hasina’s uncle’s house was bulldozed in Khulna. On Wednesday night, around 9 pm, leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement announced and vandalized the house. Later, they started demolishing the house with two bulldozers from the city corporation.
At that time, the leaders and activists of the anti-discrimination student movement started raising various slogans against Sheikh Hasina, Awami League, Jubo League, and Chhatra League.
The house, located in the Moylapota area of Khulna city, is known as ‘Sheikh Bari’ in Khulna. Sheikh Hasina’s cousin, former MP Sheikh Helal Uddin, Sheikh Sohel Uddin, and a few other brothers lived in this house. The politics of the Awami League on the other side of the Padma was basically controlled from that house. The students and the public set fire to the house for the first time on August 4. No one was home that day. After the mass uprising on August 5, vandalism, arson, and looting were again carried out. After that, only the brick and stone structure remained in the house.
