Khaleda Zia visits Ziaur Rahman’s tomb
Bangladesh Nationalist Party-BNP’s current chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia visited the tomb of the party’s founder, martyred President Ziaur Rahman. She recited the Quran and prayed at the shrine of her husband, seeking forgiveness for his soul.
Begum Zia came out of her rented house in Gulshan in the capital at around 10:45 pm on Wednesday (October 8). Later, she went to Ziaur Rahman’s tomb in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and recited the Quran and prayed.
At this time, Khaleda Zia was accompanied by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Dr. Zahid Hossain along with party leaders and activists.
A senior leader of the party said that BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia suddenly expressed her desire to visit her husband’s tomb last Wednesday night. As per her wishes, an initiative has been taken to visit the grave of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman at Chandrima Udyan under immediate arrangements. Earlier, on February 8, 2018, before going to prison, Khaleda Zia had last visited the grave of her husband, former President Ziaur Rahman.
