Khaleda Zia is going to London next week
Former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia may be taken to London by long distance specialized air ambulance next week if her physical condition is good.
His elder son Tariq Rahman, acting chairman of BNP, and his family members are there. He may later be admitted to a ‘multidisciplinary medical center’ in a third country, according to doctors’ advice. The matter of taking abroad has also been informed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Begum Khaleda Zia’s doctors have already contacted some hospitals in London. This information was revealed by responsible sources of BNP.
According to family sources, seven members of the expert medical board, daughter-in-law Sharmila Rahman and two maids and two nurses are scheduled to go with Khaleda Zia. Sources said that preparations are underway to take the BNP Chairperson to the UK on November 5.
Doctors have been advising Khaleda Zia to be sent abroad for better treatment for a long time. Sheikh Hasina government did not heed it.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s personal physician, Prof. AZM Zahid Hossain said, “We want to take Begum Khaleda Zia there before severe winter hits London.” We have started the process of taking madam to a multi-disciplinary hospital abroad as soon as possible depending on her physical condition.
As part of that we have started working to hire Long Distance Specialized Air Ambulance, communication is in progress. First Madame will be taken to London. After the stayover there will be taken to the country where the multidisciplinary medical center is located. We hope to complete all the work and take madam abroad soon.
When asked how is the physical condition of Begum Khaleda Zia, Professor Zahid said, Alhamdulillah. Madame Gulshan is under the full-time supervision of the medical board as before. You can say that her condition is stable. He said that Begum Khaleda Zia, as a former prime minister, will already go abroad for treatment, and a letter has been sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard. Because it has been informed that relatives who will go with madam including doctor-nurse.
According to the information, the BNP chairperson’s liver will have to be replaced. There are centers in the US and Germany. Specialist doctors have also been contacted there.
The 79-year-old former prime minister is suffering from various complications including liver cirrhosis, heart disease, lung disease, arthritis, kidney disease and diabetes. He had to be treated for a long time by the medical board consisting of expert doctors at Dhaka’s Evercare Hospital, keeping him in the ICU for a long time.
After the student revolution, he returned home after a month’s treatment at Evercare Hospital on August 21. The doctors said that Khaleda Zia will be taken abroad in such an air ambulance, there should be all kinds of medical assistance. Currently there is a four-hour short-distance air ambulance, which takes patients to Singapore, Thailand. But 14-hour long-distance air ambulance to London is available in some countries, doctors have also discussed with those countries.
An expert medical board headed by Cardiologist Professor Shahabuddin Talukder of Evercare Hospital is engaged in the treatment of Khaleda Zia. In addition to the country’s expert doctors in this team, the wife of Tarek Rahman, acting chairman of the team from London, cardiologist Dr. Zubaida Rahman and some doctors from USA, UK, Australia are there.
