Jubo Dal leader expelled for announcing extortion on microphone in market
The workers and supporters of the Jubo Dal leader, wearing red cloths and raising their weapons, performed a drill under the leadership of the leader. In order to dominate the MC market, Upazila Jubo Dal member Jahangir Alam Pintu announced extortion on a hand microphone. After that, allegations arose that he took shopkeepers hostage at gunpoint and looted money.
Yesterday, Saturday afternoon, such an extortion incident by the Jubo Dal leader took place in the MC market of Telihati Union in Sreepur Upazila of Gazipur.
Meanwhile, the matter of the expulsion of the leader was confirmed in a press release signed by Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan, Joint Office Secretary of the Jubo Dal Central Committee, last night on charges of extortion.
It is learned that the expelled Jubo Dal leader Jahangir Alam Pintu (35) is the son of Nuru Bepari of Mulaid village in Telihati Union of the upazila. He is a member of the Upazila Jubo Dal Convening Committee and former member secretary of Telihati Union Chhatra Dal.
Locals said that on Saturday afternoon, the workers and supporters led by the leader, wearing red cloths on their faces, practiced weapons. At that time, the leader announced extortion on a hand microphone. After that, shopkeepers were taken hostage at gunpoint and their money was looted. Meanwhile, a video of the Jubo Dal leader’s extortion has already spread on social media. It has started widespread criticism locally. The traders and locals of the market demanded the arrest of the extortion terrorists as soon as possible.
Upazila Jubo Dal convener Sarwar Hossain Sheikh said, “Clear allegations have been received against Jubo Dal leader Jahangir Alam for announcing extortion on a hand microphone. The Jubo Dal central committee was informed of the matter. In view of which, Jahangir Alam Pintu was expelled from all positions, including the primary member position, of Jubo Dal, in a notification signed by Minhajul Islam Bhuiyan, the joint office secretary of the central committee.”
