JU student dies after being hit by truck

Farhana Wahida Ami (26), a fourth-year student of the English department of Jahangirnagar University, was killed in a road accident in Meherpur. The accident occurred near Fatehpur Bridge in Sadar Upazila at around 9:30 am today, Wednesday (October 15).
The deceased Farhana is the daughter of Abdul Wahed Chanchal of Meherpur city’s Old Post Office Para and the wife of Raynul Islam, a math teacher at Qutubpur School and College.
Eyewitness Mehrab Hossain said that Raynul Islam was going to his house in Ramdaspur, Meherpur Sadar Upazila on a motorcycle with his wife. When they reached Fatehpur area on the way, the motorcycle hit a sand-laden truck coming from the same direction. While overtaking the truck, the motorcycle hit a pile of bricks on the side and lost control and was crushed under the truck in an instant. Farhana Wahida Ami died on the spot.
Meherpur Sadar Police Station OC Sheikh Mezbah Uddin Ahmed told us that police were sent to the scene after receiving the information. The body of the deceased student has been recovered and sent to the Meherpur General Hospital morgue. Efforts are underway to arrest the truck and the driver.
