Journalist Bibhuranjan’s body recovered from Meghna River

The body of missing journalist Bibhuranjan Sarkar has been recovered by the naval police from the Meghna River in Gazaria, Munshiganj. On Friday (August 22) afternoon, his body was recovered floating in the Meghna River adjacent to Char Balaki, on the border of Kalagachhia in Sonargaon Upazila of Narayanganj and Gazaria in Munshiganj. Saleh Ahmed Pathan, in-charge of the Kalagachhia Naval Police Outpost, said that initially it is believed that it is the body of journalist Bibhuranjan Sarkar. The photo of the body has been sent to Ramna Police Station and the relatives have been informed. The family members are going to Munshiganj for identification. He also said that the body was wearing a half-sleeved shirt and glasses were hanging from a ribbon around its neck. The body has been sent to Munshiganj General Hospital for autopsy. Earlier, on Thursday (August 21), Bibhuranjan Sarkar left his house at around 10 am, saying he was going to the office as usual. However, he did not return home or go to the office. He did not have a mobile phone with him at that time. The family searched for him at various places including relatives and hospitals, but no trace was found. Rit Sarkar, the son of the missing journalist, told the media, “My father left his house as usual, saying he was going to the office as usual. But he did not return. We searched everywhere, but we did not find any trace of him.” Confirming the GD, Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Quader, Duty Officer of Ramna Police Station, told the media, “A GD was filed last night regarding the disappearance of Bibhuranjan Sarkar. The matter is under investigation.” Bibhuranjan Sarkar has been working in journalism for a long time. He is mainly known as a columnist. He currently lives in the Siddheshwari area of ​​the capital with his wife, one son and one daughter.
