“Jitbe ebar nouka” was suddenly chanted at a Faridpur school function.
A video of the girls dancing and singing along to the Awami League’s election campaign song ‘Joy Bangla Jitbe Ebar Nouka’ at the annual sports competition of Faridpur Government Girls’ High School has been leaked. The incident is causing widespread discussion and criticism across the district.
The 20-second video went viral on Facebook on Saturday.
Earlier, on Sunday, January 26, the incident took place at the annual sports competition and prize distribution ceremony of Faridpur Government Girls’ High School. Faridpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kamrul Hasan Mollah inaugurated the program on the school premises at around 10:30 am that day.
The viral video shows a group of girls from the school celebrating in front of the stage on the day of the competition. And the song playing on the microphone of the event is – ‘One decision for millions of people, no tension, no boat, Joy Bangla will win this time.’ Although it was initially claimed that the video was edited, it was later revealed that it was a part of a moment captured in the event itself.
However, five days after the incident, a person named Al Amin Rahman posted the video on his verified Facebook. He is said to be the vice-president of the Central Chhatra League.
In this regard, the school’s principal Nasima Begum said, ‘That afternoon, during tiffin, the girls were having fun in the school grounds. At that time, another song was playing on the microphone. Suddenly, that song came on the microphone. Upon realizing the matter, the song on the microphone was immediately stopped. The matter was inadvertent. Actually, it was not intentional.’
It is known that a seven-member investigation committee headed by the school’s assistant principal Papri Baroi has been formed to investigate the matter. They have been asked to submit an investigation report by Sunday.
