Jamaat worker could not return home after procession
Hafez Mohiuddin, an active worker of Chhayani Union Jamaat-e-Islami, died in a road accident on his way home after a mass procession in Begumganj, Noakhali. He died at Noakhali General Hospital around 2:30 am on Tuesday (August 5). It is learned that he participated in a mass procession organized by Begumganj Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami on the occasion of ‘The Fall of the Awami Regime in a Mass Uprising’. After the procession, a CNG-powered autorickshaw from Maijdi, the district town of Noakhali, collided head-on with another autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction on his way to Chhayani. Hafez Mohiuddin was seriously injured and one of his legs was broken. The leaders and activists immediately rescued him and took him to Noakhali General Hospital. He was given primary treatment there. In the evening, the leaders of the district and upazila Jamaat rushed to the hospital to see him and assured all kinds of cooperation. He was supposed to undergo surgery on Thursday. However, he died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Tuesday at around 2:30 am. Hafez Mohiuddin is the younger son of the late Momtaz Mia of Doalia village, Chhayani union, Begumganj upazila, Noakhali. He was the youngest of six siblings. He used to lead the Imamate at a local mosque and teach at a madrasa. He also actively participated in the organizational activities of Jamaat after August 5.
