Jamaat strongly condemns the dissolution of the elected board of BCB
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Central Youth and Sports Department President and Assistant Secretary General Ed. Ehsanul Mahbub Zubair has expressed deep concern, condemnation and protest over the illegal dissolution of the elected committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the formation of an ad hoc committee with party members. He issued a statement today, Wednesday (April 8).
In the statement, he said that the illegal dissolution of the elected committee of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the formation of an ad hoc committee with party members is nothing but naked interference in the internal affairs of a sports organization. This is against democratic norms, values and the rule of law. In a parliamentary democracy, the formation of an ad hoc committee by party members by exercising administrative or party influence by dissolving the elected committee is in no way acceptable.
He also said that such a move not only questions the good governance of the country’s sports arena, but also tarnishes the image of Bangladesh in the international arena. Democratic processes must be upheld in sports organizations. I call on all concerned to immediately abolish ad hoc committees, show respect for elected committees, and ensure transparency and accountability in sports administration.
