Jamaat-e-Islami, 11-party alliance to hold protest rally today

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and the 11-party alliance have announced to hold a protest march and rally in Dhaka on Monday (February 16) afternoon, alleging violence, torture, oppression, killing and rape across the country after the 13th National Parliament elections. The protest march and rally are scheduled to be held at the north gate of the National Mosque Baitul Mukarram at 4:30 pm today.
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman and other top leaders of the 11-party electoral alliance will be present at the protest rally and deliver speeches. In addition to the attacks and violence after the elections, the 11-party alliance has also raised allegations of rigging. At a press conference yesterday, Sunday, they appealed to the Election Commission to recount the results of 32 seats.
The alliance announced that they will take legal action if the issue is not resolved. The Jamaat-e-Islami alliance won 77 seats in the 13th National Parliament elections held on February 12. While Jamaat-e-Islami alone won 68 seats. Of the remaining nine seats, the alliance partner National Citizen Party (NCP) won six seats, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlis two, and Khelafat Majlis one seat.
