Jamaat condemns alleged assassination attempt on Bobby Hajjaj

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has strongly condemned and protested the ‘assassination attempt’ on National Democratic Movement (NDM) Chairman Bobby Hajjaj. In a statement on Saturday (September 6), Jamaat Secretary General Professor Mia Golam Parwar said, ‘Recently, a series of attacks are being carried out on national leaders as part of a blueprint to destabilize the country.’ The Jamaat Secretary General said that recently, People’s Rights Council President Nurul Haque Noor and JAGPA (Party) President Khandaker Lutfar Rahman were seriously injured in an attack aimed at killing them. The attack on Bobby Hajjaj is also a continuation of that conspiracy. He said that such attacks are unacceptable in Bangladesh after the July Movement. The situation proves that even though fascism has gone, their allies are making deep efforts to create unrest in the country and destabilize the political environment. This attack is a bad omen for the nation, especially as the country heads towards elections. He further said, “I call on the relevant authorities to immediately arrest and give exemplary punishment to those involved in the recent attacks on political leaders, including Bobby Hajjaj. I also call on the relevant authorities to maintain law and order, peace and stability in the country.”
