Jamaat Ameer Mourns Khamenei’s Death
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer and opposition leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has expressed his condolences on the news of the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He expressed his condolences in a post on his verified Facebook page this Sunday (March 1) morning. In the Facebook post, he said, “My heartfelt condolences to the grieving Iranian people. May Allah Almighty grant them patience and strength in this difficult time.”
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said, “The current instability in the Middle East has already put regional stability at extreme risk. If this situation escalates into further military tension, it could have dire consequences not just for one country but for the entire region. Any attack during the holy month of Ramadan will create deep anger and anxiety in the hearts of ordinary people around the world and further endanger world peace.”
“I call on all parties concerned, including the United States, Israel and Iran, to immediately cease military action, exercise maximum restraint and move towards a diplomatic solution,” he said. He added that ensuring international law, state sovereignty and the protection of civilians is now the most urgent need. The United Nations and world leaders must now play an effective role in maintaining world peace.
