Jamaat Ameer appeals to people to refrain from spreading misleading news

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman clarified the news published in various media outlets in the country regarding his interview with Reuters on Wednesday (December 31). He gave this explanation in a post on his verified Facebook page at 9:30 am today, Thursday (January 1). In the post, the Jamaat Ameer wrote that in a recent interview with Reuters, a journalist from the organization asked him, “Since India is a neighboring country, does Jamaat have any contact, discussion or meeting with them?”
He wrote that he told the journalist that after returning home after treatment for an illness in the middle of last year, many people from home and abroad came to meet him. In addition to diplomats from other countries, they also came to meet him at his house at that time and like others, they also had a general courtesy meeting and conversation.
He also wrote that during the discussions with the diplomats, he clearly stated that the matters of the diplomats who met him were disclosed and he also wanted to disclose the matter of the meeting with the Indian diplomats. However, they requested not to disclose it. He said that at that time it was said that any meeting between the two countries on matters of mutual interest in the future must be disclosed and there is nothing secret here. In the post, the Jamaat Ameer said that he was surprised by the news of his secret meeting with India. Strongly condemning such news, he urged the concerned media outlets not to publish misleading news without verifying the facts.
