JACSU: Election Commissioner resigns after failing in conspiracy
Ferdous Al Hasan, an AGS candidate of the Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed Unified Student Alliance, has alleged that a member of the Election Commission resigned to raise questions about the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JACSU) elections. He told reporters in front of the university’s old administrative building on Friday (September 12) night. Ferdous Al Hasan told the resigning commissioner that he turned his tail and fled after coming to the battlefield. It seems to us that he resigned after failing to implement the heinous conspiracy surrounding the elections. The previous day, the polling for the JACSU elections was held at Hall No. 21 of Jahangirnagar University from 9 am to 5 pm. Although it was initially announced that the votes would be counted using OMR machines, after Chhatra Dal and Shibir blamed each other for supplying the machines, it was later decided to count the ballots manually. The ballot boxes were taken from various halls to the Senate building around 7 pm and after all the preparations were completed, the counting began after 10 pm. There were a total of 11,743 voters in this election. It is reported that about 67 to 68 percent of them voted. According to the latest information till 10:30 am today, Saturday, the counting of votes for the Central Parliament has been completed in 16 out of 21 halls.
