Italy and Spain send military ships to protect Gaza flotilla

Italy and Spain have sent military ships to protect the Gaza-bound aid flotilla, the Sumud Flotilla. The ships have already set sail for the flotilla.
The BBC confirmed this information in a report on Wednesday (September 24). It said that in addition to providing security to the ships in the flotilla, the two ships will also conduct rescue operations.
Earlier, the Sumud Flotilla was targeted by several drone attacks off the coast of Tunisia and Greece. Some of the ships were severely damaged. Human rights activists present at the event called for international assistance to protect them. As a result, Spain and Italy took this decision.
Incidentally, yesterday Al Jazeera reported that explosions were heard near the ships and Israeli drones were flying in the sky. Most of the ships in the Sumud Flotilla were moving together after setting off from Tunisia, Greece and other countries. According to the Global Sea Flotilla’s live tracker, they were heading southwest of the Greek island of Crete when last reported. Notably, the Global Sea Flotilla set off from Barcelona, Spain, carrying relief supplies to Gaza. Their last four missions were disrupted due to the Israeli blockade. This is the fifth round of the voyage with about 50 ships. The flotilla includes human rights activists from 44 countries, including Swedish human rights activist Greta Thunberg.
