It is not possible to make a list of Razakars: Liberation War Advisor

Adviser on Liberation War Affairs Faruk-e-Azam said it would not be possible to make a list of Razakars. He came up with the disclosure at a press conference held at the meeting room of the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs on Wednesday afternoon.

The Adviser on Liberation War Affairs said, ‘I have not received any file from the ministry regarding the list of Razakars. It has not reached me yet. The Secretary says that the ministry does not have any copy or document of this list of Razakars.

He further said, ‘Even if we want to make a list of Razakars, it cannot be done. Just like a list of freedom fighters cannot be made. We cannot do anything by denying the reality. An incident that happened 50 years ago, where is it now, or is it not there-we will do this after getting what documents from whom. I think this is a much more difficult task.

Farooq-e-Azam, while taking about bringing fake freedom fighters under the ambit of peace, said, “There are many complaints that many people have been listed in the list of freedom fighters, gazetted and are taking benefits without being freedom fighters. In my view, this is a betrayal of the nation. This is not a minor crime, but a very big crime. When it is determined, they will be canceled and necessary punishment will be provided.”

He also said, “If we specify the verification process for the non-freedom fighters who have been listed here, similar arrangements will be made for them. We may also give an indemnity so that those who have become freedom fighters like this, who are non-freedom fighters, can leave here voluntarily. Then they may also get a general amnesty.”

The age of the freedom fighters has been set by the ministry as 12 years and 6 months. There are 2,111 people younger than this. They will be removed from the list.’
